Women in Rail is delighted to announce that the Women in Rail Awards 2023 will take place on the evening of Thursday 18 May 2023 at the historic Roundhouse in Camden.
The Women in Rail Awards aim to showcase and reward individuals and companies (large and small) who have made a significant contribution to improving gender balance, equality, diversity and inclusion in the UK railway industry.
The event is attended by a cross section of the UK rail sector, including key stakeholders and decision makers, infrastructure providers, operators, manufacturers, rolling stock companies, technical consultancy companies and suppliers, to name only a few.
For 2023, a celebration of the allyship shown to Women in Rail over the past decade will be rewarded, with the introduction of Male Rising Star and Male Apprentice of the Year categories. In addition, to add to the legacy left to the charity by its Founder, Adeline Ginn MBE, two categories have been created to recognise an Unsung Hero and the dedication of a long-serving member of the industry with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Christine Fernandes, chair of Women in Rail and business development for CAF says, “The Women in Rail Awards has become a staple in the Rail events calendar since launching in 2018. It is a fantastic opportunity to hear, share and recognise the inspirational men, women and organisations of our professional community who go above and beyond to improve gender balance, diversity, equality and inclusion across the sector.
“I am delighted that the Awards will be returning to the Roundhouse – a stunning venue with a rich rail history – here we will celebrate and share in the successes of our industry, and acknowledge the actions being taken to move UK Rail forward into a bright – and more diverse – future for generations to come.”
Judges will focus primarily on the 700-word nomination form, with any additional supporting information (limited to 2 pages of A4) only being taken into consideration during the process of deciding a winner amongst the shortlisted nominees.
Nominations for the Women in Rail Awards 2023 open on Monday 24 October 2023, with a closing date of Friday 27 January 2023.
