Nearly 700 metres of railway track through Beaconsfield is to be replaced as part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan.
The £1m improvements to the Chiltern main line in Buckinghamshire will take place overnight from February until Tuesday 2 April 2019.
Sections of track will be gradually replaced over 16 nights, and during one weekend closure of the railway (9 and 10 February) when trains aren’t running – meaning there will be limited disruption to passenger services.
At the same time, Network Rail will be carrying out work to help prepare for Britain’s new high-speed railway at West Ruislip.
A better railway through the area means smoother and more reliable journeys for passengers, as well as less maintenance and fewer inspections.
Andrew Mulholland, scheme project manager at Network Rail said: “Our £1m work to renew the railway through Beaconsfield station forms part of our Railway Upgrade Plan. This is to create smoother and more reliable journeys for Chiltern Railways’ passengers.
Alan Riley, customer services director of Chiltern Railways explains: “We appreciate that engineering work is disruptive to our customers and we are doing everything we can to minimise this disruption.
