Full service resumes between Norwich and London following emergency embankment works

Full services have resumed between Norwich and London this morning (Monday 1 February) following works to stabilise the tracks at Ingatestone over the last week.

On Friday 22 January, the embankment became unstable at Ingatestone, causing a dip in the tracks resulting in the closure of one of the lines. Network Rail’s engineers have been working around the clock to make repairs in order to safely reopen the closed line.

Follow up works will continue for the next two weeks but the rail lines will remain open throughout.

Ellie Burrows, Network Rail’s route director for Anglia, said: “We’ve worked non-stop since last Friday in order to reopen the line quickly and safely. I’m sorry that journeys have been disrupted.

“This work could not have been completed without the support and patience of those living nearby and I’d like to thank the community of Ingatestone for persevering with noise and lorries in their neighbourhood.”
