Permaquip acquires Aquarius Railroad Technologies Limited

Permaquip has announced that it has acquired Aquarius Railroad Technologies Limited, the UK’s leading supplier of road-to-rail vehicle solutions.

As one of the rail industry’s most recognisable names, Aquarius has grown to be the UK’s leading supplier of safe and efficient transport solutions for versatile track maintenance. Dedicated to driving forward safety and productivity for the nation’s networks, Aquarius is a natural fit with Permaquip, building on the organisation’s passion for innovation and engineering ingenuity.

The deal sees the acquisition of the Aquarius Railroad Technologies Limited company, including the organisation’s significant fleet. With core products, from the popular Road2Rail 4x4s to the more specialist Rail Canter, the full fleet will still be available for hire, and your Aquarius team will all still be on hand to offer ongoing support.

Mark Sargent, owner of Permaquip, said: “All of us here are full of admiration for the Aquarius team, who have worked tirelessly to grow a great business centred on providing vital services to the market. This customer-service focus and high level of delivery sits perfectly in line with the Permaquip ethos, and we felt that this deal would provide a natural partnership, whilst allowing us to further develop the product range through the utilisation of Permaquip’s innovative engineering solutions.”

The deal sees the merging of Aquarius’ Ripon-based head office with Permaquip’s Sutton-in-Ashfield location, with staff retaining their roles within the organisation.

Permaquip Managing Director Scott Harrison will oversee the new group.

Aquarius’ owner James Platt comments: “At Aquarius we have always focused on providing our customers with leading-edge equipment and an outstanding customer service experience. I am confident that Mark, Scott and the Permaquip team will continue with these core values. I will enjoy watching Aquarius continue to ‘make waves’ within the industry, and deliver the same great service of which we’ve always been so proud.”

Scott Harrison comments on the group’s plans for the future: “Our plan is to resolutely maintain the cornerstones of what has made Aquarius such a success and can only succeed by retaining the talent and experience within the business, and listening to feedback from our customers about where they need us to help them. Watch this space, it’s going to be an exciting time.”
