Public consultation launches on Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange

People are being asked for their opinion on proposals for Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange.

Tritax Symmetry is hosting the consultation, which launched on Wednesday, 12 January 2022, for a period of eight weeks.

Due to the size of the proposed development, it is classed as a ‘Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project’, which means that any decision will be made by the Secretary of State for Transport. The Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange proposals include industrial and storage/distribution units and a rail port with access from Junction 2 of the M69.

The site is within the boundaries of Blaby District Council and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and is located south west of the village of Elmesthorpe, close to Broughton Astley. Harborough District Council says it may impact on parts of the local highway network in the district.
