NYMR now open for the 2022 season

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway has reopened for the 2022 season, following months of planning and organisation.

The season runs from 4 April to 30 October.

New for 2022, the NYMR has launched a host of suggested itineraries to help visitors plan their journeys and make the most of their experience.

Throughout the year there’ll also be a number of events taking place including:

  • Annual Steam Gala (22-25 September) – a chance to experience a range of iconic steam locomotives, along with traction engines and the much-loved annual beer festival.
  • Light Spectacular (22-30 October) – an hour-long illuminated journey from Pickering to Levisham Station, with carriages adorned with 17,000 LEDs.
  • Santa Specials (selected dates during December) – the family festive adventure onboard the Santa Express that provides the chance to meet Santa and his elves in a unique setting.

Prices for the attraction start from £20.50 for children and £41 for adults and £84 for a family for full line return tickets, with reserved seats, on the ‘Seaside Special’ from Pickering or ‘Yorkshire Express’ from Whitby. Shorter journeys are also available to buy on the day from the booking offices.

Passengers will be able to enjoy the scenery of the North York Moors National Park, including Goathland railway station, known to millions as the filming location for the iconic film Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and home to the popular TV series Heartbeat
