Work complete to improve bridge and lighting at Trimley rail station

Passengers at Trimley rail station, Suffolk, are now benefitting from improvements completed by Greater Anglia including a renovated footbridge and new lighting to the station platform and car-park.

Greater Anglia invested over £1.2 million in a complete refurbishment of the bridge, which included repairing and strengthening steel structures and installing new stair treads and decking.

New, brightly painted handrails with lighting were also installed, along with a new non-slip floor surface to improve passenger safety when going up or down the steps.

At the same time, the height of the bridge parapet was also raised as an additional safety measure.

Re-wiring of the station was also carried out, with new lighting columns installed on the station approach.

Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, Simone Bailey, said, “The work at Trimley station means that the footbridge is now looking much smarter, has improved customer safety and is helping to enhance the station environment for our customers.

“I would like to thank customers for their patience while this work was carried out.

“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers.”
