Andy Street Visits Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV) Skills Academy
West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street, has visited the Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV) Skills Academy, and he was pleased to hear 3,000 more local people will benefit from employment opportunities on HS2.
HS2 unveils noise-cancelling Chiltern Tunnel design
HS2 has revealed designs for the north portal of the Chiltern Tunnel, which has been specially devised to eliminate noise from trains entering and exiting the project’s longest tunnel at speeds of up to 320km/h.
Two perforated concrete hoods will cover the track, extending the 10 mile long tunnel into the open air. These ‘porous portals’ will avoid sudden changes in air pressure – and resulting noise – caused by trains entering and exiting the tunnels.
Angler’s club is first in Crewe to get £25,000 HS2 community grant
Cheshire’s Wybunbury Anglers Association has received a £25,000 grant from HS2 to restore the banks of the Jubilee Pools.
The organisation is the first in Crewe & Nantwich to successfully apply for funding through the Community & Environment Fund (CEF).
HS2 contractor awarded industry-first sustainability status
EKFB is the first joint venture to attain a new sustainability status awarded by the Supply Chain Sustainability School (SCSS).
EKFB is the main works contractor for HS2 made up of Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall.
The newly-earned status is part of a recent programme within the School’s Plant Charter which recognises the actions taken by construction organisations to lower emissions on construction sites, resulting in improved air quality and a cleaner working environment.
