A Diamond solution for Transport for Wales

Diamond Rail Services is underway with the manufacturing of an adjustable height foot rest for Transport for Wales.

They will be installed on the 197 fleet for the second man driving seat.

Jenny Dempsey, business development director, said: “When an email comes in beginning with ‘I’m not sure if you could help with this, but…’ the Diamond Rail services team springs into action.

“Their 197 fleet required a solution for the second man driving seat and our resident engineer engaged with the customer and union and designing a foot rest solution for the cabs ensuring ergonomic standards were addressed and it was a solution for all.”

Within three months the prototype has been approved by all stakeholders and manufacture is underway. In true turnkey fashion, Diamond Rail is also installing the modification on site.
