Boris Johnson praises ‘Iron People’ of Ukrainian Railways

Boris Johnson has praised the brave staff of Ukrainian Railways whilst on his unannounced visit to Kyiv.

The train provider posted a video on Facebook of Boris Johnson, recorded as he made his way there.

In it, the Prime Minister said: “I’m travelling on a fantastic Ukrainian Railways train through to Kyiv from Poland, and I just want to say a massive thankyou to all the staff of Ukrainian Railways for what you’re doing.

“I gather you’re called ‘Iron People’ — men and women of Iron — because that’s the trade, the industry you work in. But I think it also reflects the spirit that you’re showing and the spirit of Ukraine in standing up the appalling aggression that we’re seeing.

“I’m so sorry about the loss of some of your colleagues and comrades at Kramatorsk. We in the UK stand in sympathy and solidarity with you.
