CAF thrilled to win at “Made in Wales” awards

CAF has won the prestigious “Automotive, Aerospace and Rail” award at the Made in Wales Awards held on Thursday 21st October in Cardiff.

Judges were looking for the best-in-class when it comes to all elements of manufacturing, alongside efficiency and sustainable growth and a company that is putting UK manufacturing on a global map.

CAF were in a strong category, with Wales attracting many world-class organisations from the automotive, aerospace and rail industries.

CAF’s Newport facility is high-tech train assembly plant, that commenced operation in September 2018. It is producing high quality rolling stock for several contracts including delivery of a new fleet of trains for TfW that will be “made in Wales for the people of Wales”.

CAF has made a significant impact on the local economy whilst equipping its workforce with a range of new skills to meet the needs of a changing world. CAF’s workforce at Newport experience high levels of staff retention, this underlines the positive attitude and job satisfaction that has been achieved. Investment by CAF, to build a work force for the future, has regenerated a region which has seen the end of many traditional occupations.

Richard Garner, UK Director CAF said: “Given the competition we are extremely pleased to have been recognised by the judges as important to Wales and are delighted with our decision to build our factory in Newport. This award is an absolute credit to all the staff and management at CAF Newport.”
