Carlisle Support Services: A Decade-Long Partnership with WMT

Established rail support service provider Carlisle Support Services celebrates 12 years of continued service with West Midlands Trains.

Known as London Midland at the time, West Midlands Trains appointed Carlisle Support Services in 2011 as its cleaning provider for stations, crew rooms and office locations across the network.

As a major service provider, Carlisle Support Services continues to play a key part in ensuring that the public’s perception of the safety and cleanliness of West Midlands Trains’ service is not only maintained but improved year on year.

Having grown its portfolio of services across the network, Carlisle now undertakes cleaning services across over 147 stations on a weekly basis, service fulfilled through both static and mobile cleaning teams for optimal results. In the recent years, West Midlands Trains contracted Carlisle to provide vegetation control, poster replacement and winterisation services as an addition.

Director of Rail Strategy at Carlisle Support Services, Steve Cere commented on the relationship: “We are very pleased to have built a strong relationship with WMT over the years. The contract length and development are a testimony for our commitment to service quality and consistency.

“We have seen great results including significant increases in NPS scoring and are very excited to continue innovating to deliver unrivalled levels of service to both WMT and its passengers.”

WMT’s Head of Property Robert Goode added: “Carlisle has consistently achieved positive results for West Midland Trains along with recognition from our collective customer base, bringing a high level of value to our end user customers.”

The introduction of Carlisle’s cutting-edge workforce management technology, Work-IT helped revolutionise operations and increase transparency across all operational aspects by providing real time information to WMT’s management team. This includes hundreds of thousands of work completion images, proof of presence, hours of coverage, full audit trails, real-time task allocation and much more.

Robert Goode went on to say: “Carlisle’s propriety system has allowed us to provide real evidence of works completion and cleaning standards to our internal and external stakeholders, including Network Rail.”
