Chiltern Railways special timetable and station activity for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Chiltern Railways has announced its plans to lengthen services and celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at some of its stations.

Over the Bank Holiday (Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June), a normal weekday service will be in operation, meaning that an extra 10,000 seats will be available in comparison to a normal Bank Holiday.

On Saturday 4 June and Sunday 5 June, a special timetable will be in operation with specifically lengthened trains running throughout the weekend, adding carriages and capacity across the network.

Services are likely to be busy, with a parallel event at Lord’s Cricket Ground taking place over the weekend.

Some additional services have been added to the timetable on the evenings of Saturday 4 June and Sunday 5 June:

  • Saturday 4 June, 23:40 – London Marylebone to Oxford (calling at High Wycombe, Princes Risborough, Haddenham and Thame Parkway, Bicester Village, Oxford Parkway and Oxford)
  • Saturday 4 June, 00:13 – London Marylebone to Aylesbury via Amersham
  • Sunday 5 June, 21:27 – London Marylebone to Aylesbury via Amersham
  • Sunday 5 June, 23:52 – London Marylebone to Aylesbury via Amersham

Due to planned engineering works on Saturday 4 June and Sunday 5 June, the line between Princes Risborough and Aylesbury will be closed all day. Rail replacement buses will operate between these stations, also serving Monks Risborough and Little Kimble.

As Chiltern uses all of its available trains, the carriages that served this route will be used to enhance other services across the weekend.

On Sunday 5 June, the Big Jubilee Lunch will be taking place. To help celebrate, Chiltern will be holding mini-Jubilee style stalls at 4 stations – Birmingham Moor Street, Leamington Spa, Banbury and High Wycombe.

Between 10.30am and 2pm, a stall will be set up at each station, with chocolates, cupcakes and Jubilee flags being handed out to onward travellers and those celebrating the landmark event.

Friends of Solihull and Bicester North stations have both planted out their gardens in Jubilee themed colours.

Eleni Jordan, commercial & customer strategy director for Chiltern Railways, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming tens of thousands of travellers across our network for the Jubilee Weekend, with many travelling to and from London to celebrate and congratulate Her Majesty the Queen.

“The special timetable in operation will work to ensure that every customer travelling over the weekend has a safe and comfortable journey.”
