Chris Heaton-Harris features in latest Rail Director: Evolution rather than revolution

Rail Minister Chris Heaton-Harris has told Rail Director that rail is an evolution rather than a revolution. There are 62 commitments in the Williams-Shapps Plan for Rail, he reminded us, and not all of them will be delivered by 1 September 2022.

The Minister is on the front cover of the latest edition of Rail Director, the magazine that covers everything from track to train, which can now be viewed online for free by clicking here.

“There’s a whole industry strategic plan that needs to be done by 2022. Andrew Haines and Sir Peter Hendy are working with people from inside and outside of the industry, and there’s a lot of work going on,” he told Rail Director.

“There are 62 commitments in the white paper and not all of them will be delivered on 1 September 2022, it’s not going to happen like that. Rail is an evolution rather than a revolution. A number of commitments will be delivered before that date, and a number after.”

His interview is one of several featured in September’s magazine, including chats with the Railway Mission’s former chair of trustees Keith Rose, Jay Shen from Transreport and special features with details of this week’s combined Railtex and Infrarail event in Birmingham.

David McLoughlin, Chief Executive Officer of the Business Daily Group, said: “I hope you enjoy the magazine as much as I have. We feature some high-profile interviews including the Rail Minister and Transport Commissioner for London.

“We are looking forward to attending this week’s combined Railtex and Infrarail event, where we have joined forces with Mack Brooks to support small to medium enterprises with our Eagle Lab area. Please do come and say hello and take the time to visit some incredible businesses showcasing their products and services.”
