Christmas comes early for rail children throughout the UK

This week, Christmas will come early for hundreds of rail families with children thanks to UK based rail charity the Railway Benefit Fund (RBF). A special fund created by McIntosh within the RBF will be used to send a gift of Christmas vouchers to all the children of families helped by the charity this year.

2020 has been a year like no other, with the COVID crisis touching the lives of millions of families across the UK. As many working in rail have struggled financially and have needed support, they have turned to rail charity Railway Benefit Fund (RBF)- the only charity solely supporting rail workers and their families. The charity has helped hundreds of rail families facing difficult times throughout the year, by providing help, signposting and financial support to help with crisis situations, such as priority debt, rent arrears, illness and disability and other difficult circumstances.

Helping the children of railway families is at the heart of what RBF do, which is why they are delighted to be continuing with the McIntosh voucher scheme this year, especially due to the hardship brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The charity will gift a £40 Argos voucher to every railway child this Christmas- giving to nearly 100 families.

Last year, the McIntosh vouchers were gratefully received by railway families that the charity helped. One parent said ‘I received in the post today a £40 gift card for Argos to give to my little girl for Christmas. I just wanted to say thank you. It was so lovely to receive something so unexpected.’

Another parent told the charity ‘I am truly overwhelmed & truly grateful. Both my children will be very happy & grateful when they receive the gift cards on Christmas day and will have pleasure spending it on things they want. As my funds are low and we do not have family that they receive presents from, this is so nice and I cannot thank you enough.’
