CPMS – Egis implements Online Safe Space to support victims of domestic abuse

Collaborative Project Management Services Limited (CPMS), part of the Egis Group, joined forces with other industry stakeholders, incuding railbusinessdaily.com, and implemented an Online Safe Space service portal on their website to support victims of domestic abuse.

Online Safe Space is a virtual portal which provides a variety of helpful support, advice and contact information to those at risk or experiencing domestic abuse. It also includes helplines and features a quick exit button that leaves no internet history, ensuring the safety of those using the service.

Online Safe spaces was developed by the Royal Mail Group, in collaboration with crisis charity Hestia and their UKSAYSNOMORE campaign.

The campaign was brought to the rail industry by Rajinder Pryor of Women in Rail and Network Rail to encourage other rail companies to implement the portal and help support victims of domestic abuse, thus strengthening other sector initiatives such as Rail to Refuge and White Ribbon UK.

Mat Baine, Chief Executive Officer at CPMS – Egis, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the nationwide campaign to end domestic abuse. We hope that, by implementing the Online Safe Space portal on our website, we will be able to offer support to people in a dangerous situation by giving them access to the resources they need to get out and find safety quickly.”

Alex Phillips, HR Director at CPMS – Egis, added: “Uniting as an industry to fight against domestic abuse is critical. Since lockdown began, the rates of violence against women in particular have significantly risen and the extent of the problem has become alarmingly apparent. We all have a responsibility to find ways to eliminate abuse of any kind.

“By offering a space that is really safe, we can start to provide practical support to those who need it most and make a real-life changing difference to those impacted. It is tragic that prior to this portal and Rail to Refuge, people suffering from domestic abuse had little or no clear path to help them escape.”
