On Friday 17 June, Tidyco, a leading SME providing hydraulic and pneumatic components to the rail industry, welcomed a visit by Deputy Mayor of London for Transport, Seb Dance.
The visit was part of an effort to highlight to the Government the importance and need for long-term funding in order to protect the jobs of those companies across the country, which supply and support the smooth running of Transport for London (TfL).
The Deputy Mayor was given a full tour of the Tidyco facility, observing the production process of hydraulic and pneumatic hoses as well as seeing how metal pipework was scanned using a 3D scanning arm then bent via a high-tech CNC tube bending machine, in real time.
The tour also included a walk around the recently opened Rail Overhaul Facility. Here, Seb and the other visitors were shown how Tidyco’s state of the art building has improved the longevity of TfL’s assets as well as ensuring cost savings over the duration of their contracts.
Paul Jacks, Rail Division Director, shared his thoughts on the visit: “We are extremely proud to have been able to welcome Seb Dance and the other delegates to Tidyco today. We feel it really shows how much of a huge impact an SME can have on a concern like TfL and we look forward to continually supporting them.”
For every pound invested into the London Underground, £0.55 of that is spent outside of London, which indicates how important funding is, not only for TfL but also for the wider UK economy. This is even more significant as we enter the post-COVID era.
