This presentation is the fifth in IRSE president Dr Daniel Woodland’s series of lectures during his year in office.

He said: “Cyber security has become a critical part of delivering an efficient and safe railway, driven by ever more digitally connected systems and the evolving threat landscape.

“Much has been achieved over recent years, but even today the railway finds itself in various stages of cyber security awareness and readiness.

“As an industry we range from having developed and integrated security assurance frameworks (allowing safe, secure R&D and project implementations), through to no awareness at board level and lack of understanding of responsibility within safety engineering teams.

“The paper will propose a digital resilience railway maturity matrix, presenting a method to categorise, recognise and support organisations with their roadmaps to integrating security into daily operations.”
