East Midlands Railway donates 8,000 chocolate Easter eggs to local Hospitals

East Midlands Railway has donated 8,000 Easter Eggs across local hospitals throughout the East Midlands this week to say thank you for all of the hard work NHS employees are doing throughout the Coronavirus crisis.

The chocolate eggs come in a miniature egg box with 6 individually wrapped treats inside.

The Easter Eggs have been donated to the following Hospitals:

  • Nottingham University Hospitals including the Queens Medical Centre and City Hospital
  • Derby University Hospitals including the Derby Royal Hospital
  • Leicester’s Hospitals including the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital
  • Sheffield Hospitals including Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Northern General Hospital in Sheffield

Neil Grabham, Customer Services Director for EMR, said: “Our EMR Treats are a great way for us to surprise and delight people and in these unprecedented times, we are hoping the Easter eggs do just that.

“It’s also our little way of saying thank you to all the amazing people working for our NHS, who are working incredibly hard in this very challenging time to keep us all safe and well.”

Sarah Moppett, Deputy Chief Nurse at Nottingham University Hospitals, said “This is a very kind donation from EMR and will be really appreciated by our incredibly hard working staff here at NUH, thank you.”

Arthur Stephen, Divisional Medical Director for Surgery at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, said: “Thank you so much EMR for such a thoughtful gesture! Anything to lift spirits of our fabulous staff at this challenging time is most welcome. It’s so humbling to see the nation get behind all of our NHS staff.”

Gareth Aston, Head of Fundraising for Leicester Hospitals Charity, said: “We are so thankful to EMR for such a considerate gesture for our hospitals at this time.

“Easter is usually a special time in our hospitals, but this year it comes during a period of great challenge. So this donation will mean a lot to the patients and staff who are in our hospitals over the Easter period.”

David Reynolds, Executive Director at Sheffield Hospitals Charity, said: “We want to say an enormous thank you to EMR for their generous donation. It is a prime example of the support that people and businesses are showing for their NHS – something that will always be remembered during these challenging times.

“Incredible NHS staff are working tirelessly to care for the people of Sheffield and we are constantly in awe of them. As we all begin the Easter weekend we know that many of those staff won’t have the luxury of time with their families and so the Easter treats that EMR have donated will be sure to put a smile on the face of our wonderful NHS staff.”
