Fostering a culture of SHE compliance

SSE Enterprise Rail’s approach to fostering a culture where its people drive SHE compliance has been praised on its Kent Lighting Renewals project.

The way works are being carried out at Hastings Park as part of this project have been singled out by Peter Garwood, works delivery for Electrification and Plant, Network Rail (Southeast Route), who carried out a site inspection.

Mr Garwood, who was immediately impressed with the way he was met on site by SSE staff and site supervisor, and the briefing and checks he received, said: “Since SSE Enterprise Rail has been on site there have been regular site safety inspections carried out each week by my site supervisors and no issues have been identified by the site set-up, safety or the site staff have been found.”

SSE Enterprise Rail’s managing director Raj Sinha said: “The entire SSE Enterprise Rail team should be rightly proud of the feedback we have received. We pride ourselves in our approach to Health and Safety in the workplace and creating a culture where each and every person here can play their part in compliance. We also work very closely with all stakeholders to ensure that works are carried out effectively, efficiently, on time and within budget.
