Get on Track and get moving for Rail Aid 2021!

Rail Aid 2021 has the perfect challenge for those looking to get active while supporting a valuable cause – and the level of commitment is entirely up to you!

The distances achieved for last year’s event were so impressive it’s being taken up a level for this year’s Get on Track challenge, sponsored by Angel Trains.

Rail Aid 2021 is challenging the rail industry family to collectively run, walk, wheel, or cycle the distance between flagship projects in each of the three countries that the Railway Children charity works in – United Kingdom, India and Tanzania, a distance of 26,201km.

You can cover any distance you like and all we ask is that you donate or fundraise the same amount as the distance you cover. For example, if you’ve covered 10 kilometres, then you donate or raise £10! Any amount you raise will help Railway Children change the futures of some of the world’s most vulnerable children. And you can do it without leaving the house if you prefer – some of last year’s participants clocked up their kilometres on exercise bikes.

Participants can sign up as individuals or gather a group and take on the challenge as a team. Whether its workmates, family, friends, or industry contacts – clock up as many kilometres as you can between you. Every kilometre covered and every pound raised helps the charity reach children at risk.

You can track your distance through the My Virtual Mission App on which everyone can complete their exercise, log it on the group challenge and donate or raise that amount. Each participant has until 25 November to cover as much distance as you can and every kilometre counts!

Prizes needed for Rail Aid auction

The Rail Aid team needs your help! Last year Rail Aid’s fundraising efforts were hugely helped by your donations of items and experiences for the Railwayana and Gala Auctions. Last year Rail Aid’s auctions raised over £170,000 for Railway Children charity.

This year, Rail Aid is once again running two auctions that will be launched on 4 November 2021. The Railwayana Auction is in partnership with Great Central Railwayana Auctions and will consist of railway memorabilia and experiences. Last year, name plates commemorating the Diamond Jubilee and Spartan, Warship Class and Thunderbirds The Mole were amongst the highest value items for the Railwayana auction! Bogie plates and work plates were other high value items, alongside modern signs, a Derby Test Track Cab Ride and paintings.

The Gala Auction (sponsored by Colas Rail) is looking for items such as luxury goods or electronics, and experiences including holidays with over 100 lots needed to make the experience a success. Auction lots are requested by 15 October 2021. Lots already secured include:

· Formula One Pit Passes with Aston Martin (courtesy of Cognizant)

· A Philippe Stark chair designed originally for the Eurostar business lounge (courtesy of Eurostar)

· Crossrail Experience and Station Tour for 6 with exclusive behind the scenes access

· Afternoon Tea at the Savoy Hotel

· Mini breaks to cottages and hotels across the UK

The Rail Aid team are hoping to build on the success of last years’ auctions, but they need your help!

Please have a look in your homes, offices, cupboard, and shelves and get creative about items or experiences you could donated. Contact the team at enquiries@railaid.co.uk if you have any items or would like more guidance on what to donate or visit https://railaid.co.uk/auctions/
