Greater Anglia leaves stations gleaming in high level cleaning campaign

It’s not quite the season for a spring clean, but that hasn’t stopped Greater Anglia. Stations across the network have undergone an enhanced clean and have been left gleaming!

Working in partnership with cleaning contractor Carlisle, Greater Anglia has undertaken deep cleaning work at stations including Rochford, Beccles, Harlow Town, Tottenham Hale and Cambridge.

In a bid to make stations as pleasant and welcoming as they can be, platforms and forecourts have been pressure washed, canopies have been cleaned and station signs have been scrubbed. Inside, toilet floors have been steam-cleaned and windows have also been left shining.

A late-night possession was granted, in which overhead wires were switched off and trains stopped running, which allowed contractors access to the track to be able to get to all the hard-to-reach places and carry out the high-level cleaning.

Even cutting-edge technology was drafted in to help get the job done. Greater Anglia uses a range of initiatives to keep stations clean, including a robot which is used to clean concourses at Norwich and Southend Victoria stations and gumbuster machines to clean up chewing gum.

Krzysztof Drozd, station cleaning and waste manager, Greater Anglia said: “We want all our customers to have a comfortable journey when travelling with us, and that starts the moment they arrive at the station.

“We are constantly monitoring the cleanliness of our stations and we are working hard to make sure they are looking as fresh and clean as possible.

“Much of the work happened overnight and I would like to thank our contractors, Carlisle, for working around the clock.”
