Greater Anglia to upgrade waiting shelter at Roydon railway station

Greater Anglia will soon start work to upgrade the waiting shelter at Roydon station.

The operator will remove the existing shelter (which is built on raised concrete), enabling it to level the area and install a new shelter, complete with step-free access and CCTV.

The work is due to start imminently and is expected to be completed in March 2024.

The new shelter will be partially enclosed, protecting people from the elements as they wait for trains.

Greater Anglia added that there will be no shelter available to passengers on the platform during this period, but that it plans to complete the works as quickly as possible to help minimise inconvenience.

Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, Simone Bailey, said: “We are pleased to be upgrading the waiting shelter at Roydon to improve the facilities for station users and to create a step-free waiting area that is more easily accessible to everyone.

“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service standards for our customers.

“We apologise for any inconvenience while this work is carried out.”
