Hird Rail Development help reduce track circuit failure related train delays

Responding to Network Rail’s call for track maintenance solutions, Hird Rail Development (HRD) obtain full product acceptance for the fast curing, insulated joint life extension kit.

Track circuit failures are a common cause of train delays, with rail lipping at the insulating end post an attributing factor. Until now, rail lipping has been rectified using temporary repair techniques that are reported to be ineffective, requiring repeat visits to continually repair the same problematic rail joint.

The kit has been specifically created to not only repair the lipped rail, but to improve the performance and service life of the insulated rail joint. Following a simple step by step process this kit is designed to provide long lasting asset life extension rather than a quick fix, temporary repair.

· Specifically designed for the rail environment to rehabilitate end posts in insulated rail joints

· Enhancement filler is resistant to abrasion and cracking, whilst at the same time remaining flexible

· High insulation properties realised immediately due to rapid curing

· Enhancement filler acts to improve the rail joint’s resistance to water ingress

· Unique AntiStatic coating spray applied to reduce electrostatic charge around the end post to prevent the collection of any grinding dust or dirt

Adam Elliott of Hird Rail Development said “We believe it is vitally important that the users are shown how to perform the enhancement correctly. A process familiarisation session will be delivered to all maintenance teams ahead of using the kit.”

To book a product familiarisation session please contact the HRD team.
