HS2 minister since 2020, Andrew Stephenson, changes duties

Andrew Stephenson has been appointed to be the Co-Chairman of the Conservative party – and is now a minister without portfolio. He will attend cabinet.

Andrew Stephenson was appointed HS2 minister back in 2020 during a cabinet reshuffle, as well as having duties for the Transpennine Route Upgrade and Northern Powerhouse Rail projects.

The change in duties follows Boris Johnson announcing his resignation, which had been triggered by a series of resignations as well as a delegation of MPs – including Grant Shapps – urging him to resign.

Trudy Harrison has been appointed a transport minister.
