HS2 supplier guide aims to help UK businesses unlock 400,000 contracts

With an estimated £25 billion worth of opportunities expected across 400,000 contracts, it is hardly surprising that HS2 is the hot topic on everyone’s lips when it comes to supply chain wins.

Over 2,550 UK-based businesses are already engaged in the HS2 supply chain, with construction supporting over 27,000 jobs, and HS2 is keen to encourage businesses of all sizes from all over the UK to register their interest to be part of the action and play their role in delivering Britain’s new railway. A new supplier guide may be just the tool they need to help.

Ruth Todd, chief commercial officer at HS2 said: “HS2 provided a lifeline to thousands of UK-based SMEs during the pandemic, and in these challenging economic times, it’s vital that British businesses of all sizes gear up to capitalise on the certainty that HS2 contracts provide.

“With a two-decade long construction programme ahead of us, our contractors need a robust, reliable, and resilient supply chain. Whether seeking to diversify or broaden their client base, now is the time for businesses to get HS2-ready.”

HS2 is proud of the clear visibility of the contract opportunities it offers, unrivalled for a project of this scale. There is a real drive to ensure that UK companies of every size are well placed to seize the opportunity to capitalise on upcoming contracts, regardless of which tier of the supply chain they are in. The new guide (available here), offers clear guidance for interested parties on exactly what the project is looking for, what they’ll be buying, how you can access opportunities, what is required of you as a supplier, and the next steps.

It also introduces key Tier 1 construction partners, together with links to their procurement and supply chain teams.

All HS2 construction partners must promote all subcontract opportunities on CompeteFor, which allows organisations to receive tailored alerts for opportunities.  HS2 also publishes all indirect contract opportunities on its website, over 900 contract opportunities currently available.
