It’s Budget day today and the first financial statement by the Chancellor Rishi Sunak and since Boris Johnson’s majority government.

The BBC is reporting that infrastructure spending will be raised to its highest in decades – more than £600 billion over the five-year Parliament.

The Guardian features comments by Rishi Sunak that this is a budget that will ‘deliver on the promise to level up the UK’.

“Public Health England has made it clear that people should go about their daily lives as normal.” That is the message from Lilli Matson, the Director of Health, Safety and the Environment at Transport for London.

It’s as the number of suspected cases of coronavirus increases in the UK. TfL has unveiled an enhanced cleaning regime. People are being urged to wash their hands more regularly.

Transport software provider Tracsis has acquired UK-based software company iBlocks, which specialises in the provision of smart ticketing solutions.

The Yorkshire Post reports that it comprises an initial cash payment of £12.5 million.

Chief Executive Officer Chris Barnes says it will open up an exciting new area of opportunity for Tracsis.

Finally, and Siemens Mobility Limited has announced the first trainee roles for its new world-class rail manufacturing facility in East Yorkshire.

The 12 apprenticeships will be among the first of up to 700 jobs to be created by the development.

This is along with a further 250 during the construction period and an additional 1,700 UK supply chain roles.
