Getech, the stock market-listed geoenergy company, said that working alongside SGN Commercial Services, phase one has seen the successful “deconstruction” of the Highland city’s former gas holder.

An article on The Scotsman says the move paves the way to convert a natural gas holder site into a green hydrogen storage and distribution facility.

Bosses said the site forms an important element of Getech’s broader hydrogen network development for the Scottish Highlands. Situated alongside Inverness’ railhead, it is said to be ideally positioned to supply clean fuel to the hydrogen trains planned to operate in the region.


An £80 million railway project in Knowsley has taken a major step forward.

An article in Insider Media Limited says Knowsley Council collaborated with lighting and electrical contracting business Enerveo to kick off the new Kirkby Railway Station Project at Headbolt Lane.

The station is set to open in April 2023, with the council and Enerveo team working closely against the clock, to complete the required infrastructure work.


Transport leaders have launched a bid to secure more than a hundred new trains on the railway lines in the Midlands.

An article on Leicestershire Live says Midlands Connect, the region’s sub-national transport body, is hoping to secure an investment of more than £1.5 billion in rail services across the region, which would improve links between Leicester, Birmingham, Worcester, Bristol and Cardiff.

If the ‘Going for Growth Plan’ is approved, an additional fast train that connects Leicester and Birmingham which will stop at Nuneaton will be laid on.


One mischievous dog took a game of chase to another level after running away from its owner and hitching a ride on a train.

The article in The Mirror says Pugsie, a pug from Wiltshire, escaped during a walk and was eventually found on a train carriage.

Dog wardens from Wiltshire Council were called to Westbury railway station after staff found the dog on the train. The pooch was then kept safe and warm in the railway office until she was identified by her microchip.
