Overnight trains will run from London as far as the East Midlands after the Queen’s funeral next Monday.

An article i news says rail services are being ramped up for the expected influx of visitors into the capital who want to pay their respects.

Transport bosses have warned that London will experience “unprecedented travel demand” in the coming days because of the Queen’s lying-in-state and funeral and have confirmed that a “very limited” number of trains will run through the night.


The Department for Transport (DfT) will be able to share the outcome of revised proposals for a new East Coast main line (ECML) timetable upgrade planned for 2023 later this year.

Parliamentary under-secretary of state for transport, Robert Courts, told Kenny MacAskill, MP for East Lothian, in a Commons written reply on 8 September that a public consultation on the proposed major timetable change on the ECML, received more than 9,000 responses and invaluable feedback and insight from local communities.

Motherwell railway station has entered the fifth phase of the redevelopment project, work is underway to expand the station concourse which will make way for an enhanced station forecourt and building with glazed roof.

An article on the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport says over the next few weeks work will continue to take place to lay the foundations of the new expanded concourse and the steel structure which will become the new larger station building, will continue to be erected.
