HS2 Minister, Andrew Stephenson, has launched a major social legacy programme to be delivered by HS2 London contractors SCS called Empowering Communities.

It is the first programme of its kind to be led by the construction industry, working in partnership with HS2 Ltd, to deliver long-lasting benefits for local people for generations to come.

Chief Executive Officer Mark Thurston has praised the contractors for leading the way in creating career opportunities for local people, and providing benefits to communities all across the route, creating a legacy for generations to come.

The Mayor of London has set out plans to change the way Transport for London Tube network is supplied with electricity, making it more cost effective and tackling the climate emergency.

A market test has been launched for it to be supplied with renewable power direct from generators.

The aim is that all electricity for the Underground are met via zero carbon sources by 2030.

The Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region’s pledge for a new station at Kirkby Headbolt Lane has moved a step closer thanks to a further £3.3 million investment.

The new station plans includes proposals for around 500 park and ride spaces and a bus interchange with step-free access throughout the station and onto the new Merseyrail trains.

Passengers in Wales have been banned from eating, reading newspapers and talking on phones on trains.

The article, featuring in the Daily Mail, say the measures, in new guidance issued by Labour-run Welsh government this week, go much further than those imposed for commuters in England.

A Welsh government spokesman said that the rules were ‘about taking every possible precaution’ to reduce transmission of the virus.
