Network Rail workers are to stage fresh strikes in the bitter row over pay, jobs and conditions, threatening fresh disruption to services.
An article on the ITV website says members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) will walk out on November the 3rd, 5th and 7th.
In separate disputes, RMT members on London Overground and London Underground will strike on November the 3rd.
The new Bond Street Elizabeth line station is set to open to passengers next week, on Monday 24 October.
Final preparations are underway to get the station looking perfect, before the doors open for the first time to expectant passengers.
Staff are busy familiarising themselves with the new set up, and the final few days of trial operations are well underway.
Tech startup Tended has started a trial of its geofencing technology with AmcoGiffen and its trackside teams, after two years of successful development alongside Network Rail’s Safety Taskforce.
An article on New Civil Engineer says the technology has received official product acceptance from Network Rail and Tended is deploying the solution within AmcoGiffen to demonstrate its capabilities in improving site safety and efficiency.
Using high-precision geofencing technology, Tended’s solution allows planners to improve the safety of their rail projects by defining critical details onsite prior to work starting.
The largest ever UK pour of carbon-reducing concrete has been completed on the HS2 Euston station site.
A total of 232 m3 of Earth Friendly Concrete (EFC), a material that reduces the amount of carbon embedded into the concrete, saving over 76 tonnes of CO2 overall, was poured at the site by John F Hunt, working for HS2’s station Construction Partner, Mace Dragados Joint Venture, in early September.
The EFC product, supplied by Capital Concrete, has been used to create a foundation slab that will support polymer silos used for future piling works at the north of the Euston station site.
Whilst the foundation is temporary, it will be in use for two years, and historically would have been constructed with a more traditional cement-based concrete.
