An action plan is being drawn up to set out a clear path for the rail supply chain to recover from the current Coronavirus crisis.

The Rail Supply Group has been invited by the Government to form a taskforce.

A survey has now been launched with businesses that supply the rail industry being urged to have their say to build a clear picture of the situation and support needed to bounce back.

Edinburgh’s tram network could be set for a government bailout following a huge reduction in passenger figures and a cash crisis.

That’s according to an article in the Scotsman today, that says conversations are ongoing between Transport for Edinburgh and the Scottish Government.

It comes after an announcement last month of similar support being provided to networks in England.


The General Manager of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway has spoken of a feeling of helplessness over the current coronavirus crisis.

Chris Price has spoken to railbusinessdaily.com about the fight to survive for heritage railways in the UK.

He says they are no longer just preserving a railway, but also livelihoods, and without livelihoods there is no railway.

Finally, and a railway signalling engineer has built a 50ft railway up a hillside that leads to his home.

The article in Devon Live says Allan Pyne has spent nearly 20 years creating his own railway after noticing many neighbours moved when they became too old to tackle the steps to their front door.

The track is complete with tracks, carriage and a huge winch and is activated using a remote control.
