Confidence among Scots in returning to public transport when lockdown restrictions are eased has nearly halved to just 17 per cent in a poll published today.

That’s according to The Scotsman which says the dramatic reduction in the proportion happy with using trains and buses from 30% last week comes as the First Minister is due to set out the next steps towards more travel.

A transport transition plan with further details is due to be published shortly.


Several of the national newspapers have covered the news of the HS2 Old Oak Common station in west London being approved.

The Daily Telegraph writes how it is being built at the site of the a former Great Western Railway depot, will cost £1.3billion and open in 2029.

It will be one of only four stations on the first leg of the line between London and Birmingham.

The reopening of Birmingham’s Camp Hill railway line to passengers has taken a major step forward after plans for a new Moseley Railway Station were submitted.

Birmingham City Council’s planning committee has already given the green light to the construction of both Kings Heath and Hazelwell railway stations.

Moseley is the third and final station planned to re-open as part of the re-introduction of passenger services to the south Birmingham line.
