A woman has died after a collision between two cars which caused a vehicle to end up on a railway track.

An article on Sky News says the crash involving a Range Rover and a Tesla happened on the A40 westbound near Park Royal tube station in west London at 3.48am on Monday.

A female occupant of the Range Rover died at the scene.

A man and woman who were also in the car were taken to hospital and police said they are awaiting updates on their conditions.


Rail passengers have been warned of disruption for much of Monday to rail services through Hereford.

An article on the BBC says a shortage of staff has forced the closure of the signal box in the city, Transport for Wales said.

Services will be cancelled or revised and a limited rail replacement service has been brought in, National Rail Enquiries said.


Detectives are investigating after an attempt to steal a significant amount of cable from the Midlands Mainline between Westoning and Flitwick.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to assist with their enquiries.

Overnight between 11pm on Friday 12 August and 1.30am on Saturday 13 August, offenders have attempted to steal a large amount of cable from the railway.

Although unsuccessful the damage caused resulted in over 60 hours of delays to the rail network and more than £450,000.

After 40 years of service and at the age of 75, The Tyne and Wear Metro’s oldest ever driver has taken a well-earned retirement.

Richard Neesham has bid an emotional farewell to a job which became a life-long career spanning more than four decades.

Richard, of Fawdon in Newcastle, first started driving Metros in 1981, not long after the network first opened.

He said: “It’s a big achievement to work so long in this industry and I love the camaraderie with the other drivers. I am sad to leave but am also looking forward to my retirement and spending more time with my family.”
