Network Rail has revealed plans to set up an alliance with contractors to deliver the mainline works element of the Old Oak Common HS2 interchange station.
An article on Construction Enquirer says design and construction of railway systems for the new mainline station which, will connect HS2 with Great Western mainline, Crossrail, and Heathrow services, is expected to cost up to £200m.
At the Old Oak Common interchange, eight surface platforms will serve Crossrail, taking passengers to Heathrow and Central London, and the Great Western mainline, for GWR’s trains to Wales and the West of England.
A major project continues this weekend to digitalise London’s Northern City Line.
Network Rail and Great Northern are reminding passengers planning to travel this weekend to check their journey, as trains between Finsbury Park and Moorgate will be diverted into London King’s Cross.
On Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 October, engineers will continue with work to upgrade the track and signalling system on the route in the latest stage of the East Coast Digital Programme.
David Gibson has been appointed as the new Managing Director for Hull Trains.
David joins the business on 1 October to lead Hull Trains on its continued journey to recovery after the challenges of the global pandemic.
Network Rail and Vivarail have announced that Vivarail’s next-generation battery train will be launched at COP26 and will run daily services throughout the international climate change conference.
This zero-emission train uses new batteries, developed by Vivarail, to combine maximum range with the ability to recharge quickly.
The result is a train that can travel for up to 80 miles on battery power and recharge in only 10 minutes using Vivarail’s Fast Charge system.
