Passengers in Wales might have to pre-book train tickets in future to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, Wales’ economy minister has warned.

That’s according to an article in the BBC which features comments from Ken Skates who says space on services would be ‘vastly reduced’ for passenger safety.

Some train operating companies have already implemented similar measures.


Daytrippers who travelled to the seaside in a group of 30 in Scotland were publicly shamed by the train company they travelled with.

The article in The Scotsman says a post on Twitter from ScotRail aimed at the group said ‘you are making a mockery of all the people who have worked so hard to stop the spread of coronavirus. Wise up’.

Scottish Government guidelines say that only a maximum of eight people from two different households should be together at a time as part of phase one of the lockdown being eased off.

Meanwhile The Herald says following the first weekend of the lockdown easing rail use was up 65% in Scotland.


Angel Trains has revealed that CEO Kevin Tribley is retiring in September after 21 years with the business.

He will be replaced by Malcolm Brown, who led Angel Trains for ten years prior to Kevin’s appointment as CEO.

Announcing his retirement, Kevin says he’s immensely proud to have been part of such a successful organisation.

Finally, and a naked man who was sunbathing near a railway line in Essex was mistaken for a dead body.

The story in the BBC say concerned rail workers spotted a pair of feet but ‘no signs of life’ on the grounds of Chafford Hundred railway station.

A Tweet by British Transport Police Essex says ‘rushing to the scene officers found a man in his late 30s enjoying some nude sunbathing. Please don’t sunbathe nude on the railway’.
