It’s been revealed that the Scottish Government has allocated nearly one and a half million pounds to Tarmac in a Freight Facilities Grant.

It was announced at the Rail Freight Group’s Annual Scottish Conference today.

The fund, which is open to companies looking to move freight by the more sustainable modes of rail or water, will be used towards expanding rail operations at Tarmac’s Dunbar cement plant.

Passengers in the South West will be breathing a sigh of relief after planned strikes next week were suspended.

The RMT said this was to allow for further talks to take place on Friday.
