A train has derailed after striking a vehicle in southern Hungary early today, leaving several people dead and others injured, police said.

The article features in several of the national newspapers with the article on the Mail online saying the accident occurred just before 7am in the town of Mindszent.

Police said a van drove onto the train tracks and was struck by a train, which derailed from the force of the collision.

An article in the Mirror says five people died, with all those killed understood to have been in the truck.


Train services in Cornwall have been severely disrupted this morning after signalling cables were stolen for the third time in less than three weeks.

An article on Cornwall Live says similar incidents happened on March 17 and April 1, preventing trains from being able to run safely.

The article says there won’t be as many trains as usual and remaining services will be delayed between Truro and Saltash. The disruption is expected to end at lunchtime.


Network Rail engineers have completed a £7 million project to improve the West Highland Line for passengers.

Over the course of 9 days, engineering teams worked round-the-clock to replace more than 3.5km of track at locations between Upper Tyndrum and Spean Bridge.

Engineers also carried out works to improve drainage and track over the Nevis Viaduct which support the implementation of a new track design.


Great Western Railway and its parent company FirstGroup, have brought a four-year charity partnership with Action for Children to a close after providing more than £3.5 million of support since its launch in April 2018.

The partnership, initially set up for three years, was extended by a fourth year in 2021, coming to an end last month.

Throughout the partnership, GWR and FirstGroup, have provided support to Action for Children through employee and customer fundraising, corporate donations and gift-in-kind advertising space, as well as volunteering.
