The CEO of Trainline says she is confident that the long-term growth opportunity for the business remains unchanged, despite the challenges in recent weeks.

Clare Gilmartin’s comments comes as the digital rail ticketing platform reveals it’s seen a 24% increase in revenue in the year ending February 29th.

The group says actions have been taken to navigate COVID-19 downturn and position the business for long term growth.


DB Cargo UK has launched a new train service from South Wales to Belgium.

Steel from Tata Steel’s Port Talbot and Llanwern works is being transport through the Channel Tunnel for use in Belgium’s manufacturing sector.


Extensive damage has been done to a number of Mid-Norfolk Railway vehicles by vandalism.

The vandals broke into the grounds last weekend. Among the damage included their recently restored and painted brake coach, which the railway has spent nearly £45,000 on.


Over 50 people have been helped by train operating companies to escape domestic abuse in less than a month.

It is since the ‘rail to refuge’ partnership between train companies and Women’s Aid for free travel to refuge accommodation for those needing help during the coronavirus lockdown.


Independent watchdog Transport Focus is calling for reassurances for passengers as three in five say they wouldn’t feel comfortable using public transport unless social distancing is in place.

Transport Focus and London TravelWatch are calling for the government and the transport industry to outline how they will reassure passengers that it will be safe as possible to travel.

Those aged 18-24 are the most comfortable about returning to public transport. People in Scotland are the most likely in the UK – with about one in three saying they would.
