Inclusive Station Design: Making places that feel welcoming for everyone

Green Furniture Concept has organised a special webinar to discuss the importance of making transport hubs that feel welcoming to everyone.

The event, that takes place on Wednesday, May 26, at 11.30am, comes as the rail industry is looking at ways to attract people back to stations and the railways, and making sure they are accessible to all.

The event is hosted by Johan Berhin, Designer and Founder at Green Furniture Concept, an organisation which has been transforming UK railway stations by designing comfortable, placemaking furniture for waiting areas.

Among the confirmed panellists includes:

  • Kathleen O’Malley Social Performance Manager at Network Rail
  • Paul Van Doninck Strategist/Business Developer at Jernhusen
  • John Hibbert Head of Partnership Management at Shelter UK

Johan said: “We all have different needs. How can we ensure that everyone feels welcome within the station? How do we make sure there is a place for all – young, old, family, business, leisure, commuter, the blind, the hearing impaired, people in wheelchairs, people traveling alone, with friends, people who can afford, and those who cannot, or even those who do not have anywhere else to go?”

The webinar will also be an opportunity to comment, develop and share best ideas and practice.
