Industry Partnership for Digital Railway event registration open

Registration has opened for an industry-wide online event, looking at the progress of digital signalling, and what it means for the future of the railway.

Digital signalling: East Coast and beyond will bring together a panel of industry leaders to consider how the East Coast Digital Programme’s open boundary and user centric industry partnership is generating innovation, and building the capability and experience required for the wider introduction of digital signalling across the network – and for how the railway industry could work better together in Great British Railways.

This follows the Government’s announcement in June of over £1 billion investment in the East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP), confirming plans to introduce digital signalling to the southern part of the East Coast Main Line.

Modern Railways’ Philip Sherratt will be joined by leading industry figures Sir Peter Hendy, Chair, Network Rail; David Horne, Managing Director, LNER; Dyan Crowther, CEO HS1 Ltd and Chair, NSAR; along with Toufic Machnouk, Network Rail’s Director, Industry Partnership for Digital Railway.

Together, they’ll discuss how, amidst a challenging time for rail, ECDP has been able to bring together Network Rail, operators, suppliers and Government in a pioneering industry and commercial partnership to deliver the first intercity digital railway in the UK that sets the way for the future.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Toufic Machnouk said: “Digital signalling is a centrepiece of a 21st century railway. It offers a safer, higher performing, more resilient, more efficient, better skilled, more productive, and greener railway that works better for passengers, users and taxpayers.”

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring together this industry wide event to explore how investment in the East Coast Digital Programme is paving the way for a better railway and building the capability that underpins the industry strategy.”

The online event on Wednesday 16 November from 13:00-14:00.
