InsideTrack – launch edition released this week

Issue number one of InsideTrack, the new rail industry magazine that looks at the sector in depth and detail, is on its way to expectant readers.

In this day of digital communications, 24-hour news channels and social media, ‘old-fashioned’ paper publications are almost becoming an endangered species. However, RBD Publications, the publishing arm of Rail Business Daily, is bucking that trend.

InsideTrack will inform readers about what the railway is up to and how it works with itself. Published every other month, separate issues will examine topics such as building Britain’s railways, enhancing and maintaining them, their operation and governance and, of course, safety.

Every issue will contain around twenty feature articles on the headline topic, written by industry experts, as well as news and views from around the network.

InsideTrack will appeal to everyone who wants to know more about the rail industry in detail. This includes both those already working in rail, but who want to understand how their role fits into the bigger picture, and outsiders who are considering entering the industry, either for work or as suppliers.

The first issue looks at Building Britain’s Railways, so it covers new-build projects such as HS2, Crossrail – which will become the Elizabeth line once it opens next year – East West Rail, extensions to tram and London Underground networks, and even a new test track for Very Light Rail in the West Midlands.

It also touches on the challenges facing train operators as COVID-19 restrictions ease, and Operating Britain’s Railways will be the focus of the second issue in July. The timing is opportune, with the recent release of the Williams-Shapps Plan for Rail introducing major change and a new name – Great British Railways.

How will this work? What will it mean for the operators of today’s rail franchises, for the travelling public and for the men and women who work so hard to keep the railways running?

One way to find out will be to subscribe now to the second issue of Inside Track – Operating Britain’s Railways – which is planned to be with you in July.
