Interim MD of TransPennine Express to retire from current full-time role

Liz Collins, Interim Managing Director of TransPennine Express (TPE), has decided to retire from her current full-time role and will take up a new part-time position in West Coast Partnership as Finance & Commercial Director. She will begin her new role in June.

Liz has had a long and successful career with First Rail. She joined the rail industry 24 years ago at First North Western and subsequently moved to First TransPennine Express in 2004 to establish the finance function in the then newly created franchise.

Liz has been Finance Director for both TransPennine Express franchises before stepping up to act as Interim Managing Director last year.

Steve Montgomery, Managing Director at First Rail, said: “I’d like to thank Liz for her significant contribution to TPE over time. As Interim Managing Director, she has successfully managed the business through the immense challenges posed by coronavirus.

“Under her leadership, TPE has continued to provide high quality services throughout the pandemic that are essential to communities across the North and Scotland, thereby earning the trust and confidence of customers and stakeholders. Liz leaves TPE in a strong position as discussions continue with the DfT in respect of a new directly awarded National Rail Contract.

“An announcement regarding a successor will be made in due course.”
