Jeff Vehicles Ltd has become a certified B Corp, recognising its commitment to rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
Professor Jeff Allan is a chartered engineer who runs Jeff Vehicles Ltd, developing electric and hydrogen solutions for road and rail vehicles.
“I’m so proud to be a B Corp certified company,” he said. “This has been no small achievement given the small size of the company – 0.3 full time equivalents,” he said.
Jeff Vehicles Ltd works in two main areas – rail and road. In rail it is in electric, battery and hydrogen trains; and in road EV cars, e-bikes, vans and trucks.
“At Jeff Vehicles Ltd, our mission is clear: to eliminate petrol and diesel cars and diesel trains in the UK with electric or hydrogen alternatives, significantly cutting carbon emissions and improving air quality,” he said.
“We commit to advancing hydrogen fuel and electric vehicle technologies for a sustainable transport system for future generations.”
Its latest project is electrical design, firmware specification and testing for the UK’s first hydrogen locomotive.
“This is a retrofit of a 65 year old diesel locomotive to run on hydrogen, with water as the only emission, giving the locomotive a new lease of life,” he explained. “Retrofit is a highly sustainable means of dealing with diesel trains.”
