Kelly Rail, part of the Kelly Group, has announced it has been awarded a contract to provide the supply and installation of Station Information and Security Systems (SISS) at the new Dalcross Station for Principal Contractor BAM Nuttall.

The scope of work involves the supply and installation of various systems at the new station, including Customer Information Screens, CCTV, Long Line Public Address Systems, Passenger Help Points, Ticket Vending Machines, Station and Car Park Lighting, New Mains DNO Cubicles, EV Charging Units and a Battery Inverter Cubicle.

BAM Nuttall is the contractor responsible for the delivery of the new £14m two-platform station (with step-free access via a footbridge with lifts) adjacent to Inverness Airport.

Work also includes a new double-track loop through the station and closure of the Dalcross level crossing.

Discussing the award of the Station Information and Security System package at Dalcross Station, Kelly Rail’s Managing Director, Robert Burnside, said: “This is a significant contract award for us and will further reinforce our reputation as a leading partner to the rail industry. We have worked very hard as a business to diversify and grow our offering and become a truly multi-disciplinary service provider.

“Through years of successful delivery, we have built a strong track record in working collaboratively with our clients and partners to provide solutions ranging from telecommunications, Station Information and Surveillance Systems (SISS) Signalling, Mechanical & Electrical (M&E), Lineside Civils and Electrification – both high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) to projects in the rail industry.”

Robert added: “The new Dalcross Station will be a transformational scheme for the Inverness area, improving connectivity for local residents and providing a new route to Inverness Airport Business Park. We’re proud to be playing our part by providing modern information and security systems in collaboration with our trusted partner BAM Nuttall.”

The wider project includes the provision of associated parking, road alterations, railway access points, a permanent compound and a new footbridge close to Dalcross level crossing. The existing masonry arch overbridge to the east of the site will also be removed.

Work has been underway on the new Dalcross Station since October 2021, with early activity including site set up, groundworks and the creation of embankments at the location adjacent to the airport.

Kelly Rail’s works will commence on site next month with a bringing into service date targeted for November 2022.

Kelly Rail has supported Bam Nuttall Projects for a number of years. Last November, the firm supported Bam’s Moy Bridge Replacement scheme in the Scottish Highlands, managing the existing Signalling and Telecoms assets and ensuring that following the completion of the civils works, the assets were handed back into service on time.

Boasting an exceptional safety record, culture and national presence, Kelly Rail delivers multi-disciplinary solutions, specialising in telecommunications, Station Information and Surveillance Systems (SISS) Signalling, Mechanical & Electrical (M&E), Lineside Civils, Electrification – both high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV).
