Last chance to nominate in the Railway Benefit Fund Heart of Gold Awards

The nomination deadline for entries for the Railway Benefit Fund’s Heart of Gold Awards has been extended until Sunday 16th October.

Celebrating those in the rail industry who go the extra mile and make a real difference to their workplace, colleagues or community, nominations are being welcomed from anyone in the rail family and provides the perfect opportunity to show your colleagues how much they are valued and appreciated.  

The categories available are:


Lifetime Achievement Award- Sponsored by Railpen

The Lifetime Achievement Award is for someone who has demonstrated their Heart of Gold throughout their career in rail. This nominee, who has usually worked in the industry for 15 years or more, may be a mentor to others, a supportive figure, or even just a reliably friendly face.

Team Award- Sponsored by Amaro

The Team Award is for an amazing group of people who all work in the rail industry. They work together, support each other and achieve amazing things as a group. You may wish to nominate:

  • Your own work team
  • A team you manage
  • A team of people who have fundraised together/ team of volunteers

Rising Star Award- Sponsored by Furrer + Frey

The Rising Star Award is for someone who has made a big impact in a short space of time. This person is new to the railway family (within the first five years of working within the sector) but in their short time has already displayed incredible acts of kindness and is inspiring others to do the same.

Rail Hero Award

The Rail Hero Award recognises an unsung hero who has made a significant impact on the wellbeing of a colleague or their community. Their heroic gesture could be big or small but has made a huge difference to the lives of others.

Nominations can be made on the RBF website here and close on Sunday 16th October. Voting then opens at the end of October, with winners announced in November.
