Kevin Harris appointed Chair of the Community Interest Company as Jon Harris steps down
The Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire Community Rail Partnerships (CRPs) are entering a new chapter as Jon Harris, founding Chair of the CRP Community Interest Company (CIC), steps down from his leadership role. In his place, Kevin Harris, CEO of Constructing Excellence South West and Director of Time for Strategy, has been appointed to lead the CIC into its next stage of development.
Founded in 2020 and 2023 respectively, the Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire CRPs have rapidly established themselves as drivers of sustainable travel, community connection as well as place-based insight and regeneration. They have delivered award-winning, high-impact initiatives – from the Gloucestershire Black History Map and Access to Nature programmes, to Oxfordshire’s Moving Murals exhibitions and the launch of “TrainTripper,” a digital carbon savings tool.
Jon Harris, with his background in transport planning and with a deep commitment to supporting young people, inclusion of disabled people and developing local communities, has been instrumental in building the foundations of both CRPs. Jon Harris said:
“It’s been an amazing experience to set up and grow the CRPs and see what’s been achieved so far. I’m proud of how far we’ve come, and excited for the next chapter. I look forward to continuing to support the amazing work happening across Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and nationally.”
While Jon steps down as Chair, he continues to remain involved with the delivery of GoCRP projects, supporting the organisation, local community and continued success of the CRP.
Succeeding Jon is Kevin Harris, a strategic and steady leader with a strong track record in the private sector, particularly across the built environment. Kevin brings a fresh perspective and is focused on supporting the organisation’s growth into a more mature, resilient and future-facing structure. Kevin Harris Said:
“I’m excited to contribute to the incredible work already happening across the CRPs. These partnerships have shown what’s possible when communities are empowered and transport is made more inclusive. My goal is to help drive forward a strong, sustainable and impactful future.”
The CIC now oversees a growing portfolio of community rail activity across both counties and nationally, using the power of rail to unlock economic opportunity, address climate goals, and connect people with place. Hannah McDonnell, Executive Director of the CIC, added:
“We’re incredibly grateful for Jon’s vision and commitment, which laid the groundwork for so many brilliant projects. His leadership helped shape us into what we are today. We’re also delighted to welcome Kevin into the role. His energy and perspective will be a huge asset as we move forward.”
With Kevin’s appointment, the CIC is set to continue building on its successful base – championing accessible, sustainable transport and delivering community-led initiatives that truly reflect the people and places they serve.
