Leading transport strategy consultant on her new role at Journey4

Leaders have to be more agile, responsive and take a step back to look at the strategic challenges being faced in the days, months and years ahead.

That is the message from an award-winning leader in transport management consultancy, who has recently joined Journey4 as Senior Associate.

Marianne Kilpatrick has three decades experience in consulting in the transport sector, with a significant focus on rail, with a focus on commercial, strategy, transport economics, freight and passenger operations and policy.

She’s the feature in the first of a new series of webcasts from Journey4, the management consultancy specialising in the rail transport sector.

Marianne talks about what she’s been up to recently in the rail sector, her recent award wins and thoughts on the future of rail transportation, particularly post lockdown.

She also discusses her fit into Journey4 as it looks to deliver change management and employee engagement support for the rail and transport sector.

She said: “Rail is going through unprecedented challenges at the moment and all the universally adapted assumptions about how and why people travel are kind of being through up in the air as we transition through lockdown into whatever the new normal is.

“There were always going to be changes well before coronavirus reared its ugly head. Even more so leaders have to be much more agile, responsive as to how they manage those changes.

“Leaders need to create space around them to take a step back and look at the strategic challenges, work out their direction of travel, and communication them with their people, becoming more leaders than managers.

“It’s going to remain complex, and there will be more need for people to be supportive in how they get that strategic thinking into the business.”
