Levelling up the tracks: Webinar to discuss the power of HS2 and British railway engineering

A special webinar is being held to discuss major rail projects in the UK and how engineering, maintenance and construction opportunities are shaping up.

Representatives from HS2, The Spencer Group, Alstom, MPs and Councillors will be among the speakers at the HS2 East event on September 17, from 2.15pm until 4.20pm.

Free tickets are strictly limited and are available by emailing Jonathon.little@chesterfield.gov.uk

Andrew Pritchard Director of Policy & Infrastructure, East Midlands Councils said: “With major projects underway or in the pipeline there has never been a better time to collaborate for the future.

“This event is an opportunity to take stock and understand how rail projects will continue to ensure ambitions for growth are translated into jobs, innovation and opportunities for UK PLC to export around the globe.

“It is also a chance to understand the facts and see real examples of how this investment is changing and supporting the industry today. From universities and colleges, to leading firms and dynamic SMEs, from combined authorities, city mayors, and government departments to HS2 and Network Rail, everyone has a stake in continuing this success.

“Anyone who has a passion for the industry is invited to come together and see how engineering, maintenance and construction opportunities are shaping up and join a discussion with policy makers to encourage even more joined up thinking.”

The speakers include:

· Tom Riordan – Chief Executive of Leeds City Council.

· Jon Baily – Operations Director of The Spencer Group.

· Chris Elliott – Product Manager at Unipart Rail

· Howard Mitchell or Robert Cairns – Head of Innovation Manager at HS2.

· Paul Allen – Professor of Railway Engineering and Technology Assistant Director of the Institute of Railway Research.

A full list of speakers and timings is available at the HS2 East website or by clicking here.

Andrew added: “We will be showcasing our plans for future investment and highlighting the excellent work that has already been done.

“This event is designed for an audience of company executives, transport policy officers and regional and national decision makers to come together with the industry and share learning and new ideas for future working and projects.

“It will help everyone understand the other side of the investment in major projects of national importance – the many latent benefits for the British rail industry as a global force and the like impact on the supply chain, particularly in the Midlands and the North.
