The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has confirmed that Lord Callanan has seen his duties portfolio increased to include the construction sector.
A spokesperson for the BEIS said this will be undertaken by Lord Callanan on a temporary basis.
The news comes after more than 50 ministers quit last week, Boris Johnson subsequently resigned, and large numbers of ministerial posts are now being refilled.
He has been with the BEIS since February 2020.
